Petito’s death occurred between three and four weeks prior to the date her body was discovered in Wyoming’s Bridger-Teton National Forest on September 19.

Below are images of the crime scene at the campground where Gabby Petito’s body was discovered. The FBI tagged a number of trees and rocks at the location with orange spray paint and numbers, as shown in photos.

Since then, a makeshift cross-shaped memorial made of white stones has been spotted at the campsite where Gabby’s bones are thought to have been discovered.

What Happened With Gabby Petito?

Laundrie and Petito set out on a cross-country journey. They intended to tour state and national parks all over the western United States while traveling in Petito’s white Ford van to the West Coast. She had been eager to share her journey on social media with her family and other people.

The police chief said:

“She maintained regular contact with her family members during her travels; however, that communication abruptly stopped around the end of August.”

On August 12, the couple was approached by Moab, Utah, police who claimed that they had been involved in some sort of altercation. Although the two were said to have gotten into a physical altercation after arguing, both the male and female stated they were in love, engaged to be married and fervently hoped no one would be prosecuted.

On August 17, Laundrie took a flight from Salt Lake City to Tampa, Florida. Laundrie flew home to get some things and close the storage unit to save money as they debated continuing the journey. On Aug. 23, Laundrie returned to Salt Lake City to rejoin Petito.

The “free-spirited” Long Island native Gabby was last seen on August 24 in Salt Lake City, Utah, as she checked out of a hotel with her fiancé Brian Laundrie.

Gabby makes her farewell Facetime call to her family on August 24. Additionally, Gabby updates her Instagram. No address is provided in her last post which is provided below.

Brian returns to Florida without Gabby on September 1, 2021. On September 11, Gabby’s parents notified Suffolk County police that she was missing. Brian’s family claims that he has hired counsel and will not cooperate with investigators.

The FBI obtained an arrest warrant for Laundrie in September after learning that he allegedly swiped a Capital One debit card from August 31 to September 1 and racked up a $1,000 amount.

According to his relatives, Brian was last seen on September 14. He promised to return after going hiking at Carlton Reserve. On September 19 a dead body was found in Wyoming’s Bridger-Teton National Forest. Below we provided a post in which you can see the location where the dead body was found:
