TV pick: Stewarts and Hamiltons stars Rod's kids and ex-wife

The channel which brought us the Kardashians and its spin-off I Am Cait is also unleashing another Hollywood clan on the world tonight.

Stewarts and Hamiltons might have you wondering the same thing when you first encountered the Kim, Kris and co: who are these people?

Well, George Hamilton,75, is the film and television actor better known for his perma-tan and playboy life than anything he starred in. He was once married to former actor-model Alana Hamilton who became Alana Stewart with her subsequent marriage to Rod Stewart.

George and Alana had one son, Ashley Hamilton, who became an actor and, like his dad, better known for his extramural activities - he briefly married 90210 star Shannen Doherty in 1993; he co-wrote songs with Robbie Williams; he had problems with drink, drugs and eating disorders. He's reinventing himself as a singer-songwriter with an EP out to coincide with the show.

Alana had two kids with Rod Stewart - Kimberly and Sean, who appear in the series. Both have done their bit to keep the tabloids happy in their time too.

Sean dated Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star Adrienne Maloof, who was almost 20 years his senior, which at least reversed the pattern of his father's love life and his mother's first husband.

Aside from her life as a sometime model, actor, clothing label owner and socialite, Kimberly has enjoyed a colourful love life with a series of famous blokes, including actor Benicio del Toro, which resulted in a daughter named Delilah (and made Rod a granddad).

Also appearing on the Stewarts and Hamiltons will be young George Thomas Hamilton, whose mother is former model Kimberly Blackford and who is Hamilton senior's only other offspring.

No, Rod Stewart and his other children aren't appearing in the show. Still you have to wonder, with famous-for-being-famous qualifications like those above: why haven't these people been on television before?

Well, they have. There's been a Living With Kimberly Stewart and George and Alana had a one-season chat show in the 90s. We suspect their new one will last longer.
